Sculpting color in impasto when painting Flamingo 33, Oil on canvas, heavy impasto

There is a tactile urgency that comes with heavy impasto, a way the paint itself begins to hold the light and shadow of the scene. Working on Flamingo 33 was an exploration of that texture, moving across a vibrant spectrum from deep magentas to soft pastel oranges to bring thirty-three flamingos to life on the canvas.

The piece draws its life from the physical weight of the oil strokes, alluding to the age of the author at the time of creation, where every ridge and thick application of paint feels alive. It is a reminder that digital or physical, art is ultimately about how we handle matter and feeling, letting pigment and touch create a world of their own.
